Topoclimate Australia Pty Ltd is a Land Resources Consultancy Company based at Coffs Harbour on the sub-tropical North coast of New South Wales, Australia but operating throughout Australia and New Zealand and internationally.
The company delivers the Topoclimate vision and concept in a range of formats and consultancy services to suit local communities and farming situations.
Topoclimate Australia Pty Ltd was formed by key staff at the successful conclusion of the Topoclimate South community-based project in Southland , New Zealand.
The $4.2M Topoclimate South Project was conceived and developed by Gary Hutchinson in 1997 and was initially entirely funded by the regional community in Southland. In May, 2000 the New Zealand Government bought in to a 40% share in the project in partnership with the Topoclimate South Charitable Trust representing the local community.
The Topoclimate South project had a significant impact on the Southland community when it was completed in 2001. An independant survey of community benefits by Otago University in 2002 showed that over 3000 new jobs had been created in the regional economy as a result of the Project and associated work.
The project altered the community employment profile to such an extent that Southland Authorities took out advertisements in newspapers throughout New Zealand extolling the virtues of living in Southland and the large number of jobs available in the regional economy.
Gary Hutchinson now serves as the Managing Director of Topoclimate Australia Pty Ltd which was established in 2001.
In the past decade, the company has undertaken large projects in southwestern Western Australia, in Northern Tasmania, in the Blue Mountains of NSW, on Kangaroo Island in South Australia, and in the Hampton and Beechmont Plateau areas in southeast Queensland, Over 5000 farmers have used the company’s services over the last decade and the success stories of some of these clients are described on the Website here.
Internationally, the company has been involved in a consultancy project in Inner Mongolia in northern China in co-operation with the Inner Mongolian Government and Agricultural University.
