PLANTGRO Version 4.0

PlantGro (TM) is a software package that helps you to predict the growth of plants under different environmental conditions. It can also predict the activity of insects and plant diseases.

The package includes the Programme and an on-line comprehensive manual. PlantGro contains files that you can use to describe both the plant and the site that you are interested in. There are more than 50 soil files, 100 climate files and 50 plant files in the basic package.

PlantGro can give you Plant growing

information such as:

  • overall suitability of a site.
  • possible water shortage issues.
  • likely harvest time for crops.
  • probable yields of crops.

PlantGro is supplied as a software framework with a number of detailed sample files to show the abilities of the software package. Users are encouraged to build new files based on the specific soils, climates and plants of their own area or project using the framework supplied.

If users want to make files themselves, they can use the simple “add files” feature of this new Windows version. There are help systems in the on-line handbook in the package for each type of data. See the sample Windows from the programme below for an idea of how the data is presented.

PlantGro can also deal with

Pastures *** grain crops *** root crops and vegetables** fruit trees:

*** Other crops such as nuts and Oils *** Forestry Trees
